Art McAlonan bvetmed mrcvs
VETERINARY SURGEON - DIRECTOR
Qualified from the Royal Veterinary College London in 1996. He began his career in mixed practice in Staffordshire, then moved to a farm animal only practice in Cheshire. The opportunity to be integral in the formation of FarmVets SouthWest in 2006 was too good to miss and thus Art moved to the West Country. He is keen to continue the development of FarmVets SouthWest into an excellent, affordable practice for the farmers of Somerset and East Devon. Art was a founding member of FarmVets SouthWest in 2008.
DAVID TAYLOR bvetmed mrcvs
VETERINARY SURGEON - DIRECTOR
Qualified in 1998 from the Royal Veterinary College, London. He initially worked in mixed practice in Devon and then farm only in Wiltshire. He set up his own company in 2005 where he was sole veterinarian in charge of a few very large milking herds. This gave him great experience and knowledge of managing large dairy herds, which has been of much benefit to FarmVets SouthWest. David holds the Diploma in Bovine Nutrition and became a director in 2010.
Eoghan McAlonan BVMS Cert AVP MRCVS
VETERINARY SURGEON - DIRECTOR
Eoghan graduated from Glasgow Vet School in 2004 and started working on the farm side of a large mixed practice in Derbyshire before joining FVSW in 2011. He became a director in 2012. He spends most of his time on dairy farms and enjoys fertility work and tackling mastitis investigations across the practice. He was awarded the Certificate in advanced veterinary practice (Cert AVP) in 2023.
CORMAC WHITE MVB MRCVS
VETERINARY SURGEON
Cormac qualified from University College Dublin in 2015 and worked in Egypt and New Zealand before coming to Somerset. His main areas of interest include small ruminant health (Sheep and Goats), whole farm health planning, agroecological approaches and grazing systems. He is currently studying for Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice (Sheep) with the University of Liverpool.
Tom Crosby BVetMed DBR MRCVS
VETERINARY SURGEON
Tom qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 2017. Born in Gloucestershire, he grew up working on farms and has a strong interest in cattle fertility. Outside of work, Tom is a new father so enjoys spending time with his daughter Penny. Tom completed a masters degree called the Diploma in Bovine Reproduction with the University of Liverpool in 2022.
VICTORIA WHITE BVETMED MRCVS
VETERINARY SURGEON
Victoria joined the practice November 2021. She graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2021. Having grown up in Somerset on her family’s farm she enjoys all aspects of farm animal practice. In her spare time Victoria can be found helping out at home on the farm or in the kitchen baking.
Helen
VET TECH & APPROVED TB TESTER (ATT)
Helen joined the practice to work full time as an ATT and Vet Tech in October 2021. She has been in the veterinary industry for the past 20 years, working as a Head Nurse in a small animal veterinary practice. Growing up on a farm Helen always wanted to do something that combined veterinary nursing and large animals so a job at FVSW as an ATT and Vet Tech seemed perfect for her! Although Helen has spent time travelling the world and locuming around the UK she has always come back to Somerset as she loves the area. Helen lives on a small holding and enjoys working her Labrador on the local shoot and spending time outdoors with her 18month old son.
Georgia candy
VET TECH & APPROVED TB TESTER (ATT)
Georgia joined the practice to work part time as an ATT and Vet Tech in November 2022. Georgia comes from a farming background and loves to help out on the family small holding. Georgia enjoys showing her pedigree Kerry hill sheep throughout the county shows. In her spare time she likes keeping fit.
LAURA SMITH
VET TECH & APPROVED TB TESTER (ATT)
Laura joined the practice to work full time as an ATT and Vet Tech in December 2022. Laura has worked as a Suitable Qualified Person (SQP) in veterinary practices since 2017, but has also worked consistently on dairy farms since leaving college. In Laura's spare time she still continues with relief milking and goes trail running.
ELLA WEEKS
VET TECH & APPROVED TB TESTER (ATT)
Ella joined the practice to work full time as an ATT and Vet Tech in November 2023. Ella studied animal science at Hartpury and has worked in the farming industry since leaving college, so she loves how vet tech work combines both veterinary and farming aspects!
She has previously travelled to Australia to further her experiences, through working for dairy farms and agricultural contractors.
In her spare time, Ella enjoys Eventing her 3 horses and walking her terrier Biscuit.
KATHRYN LONG
PERSONNEL & ACCOUNTS MANAGER
Kath has been with FVSW from the very beginning and is well-known to all our Bridgwater clients. She is a qualified Veterinary Nurse and previously held a position as Head Nurse. Kath is our client accounts and personnel manager. Her twin boys, Ollie and Tom take up the rest of her time!
HOLLY BROOM
OPERATIONS MANAGER
Holly joined the practice in October 2011. Holly was previously our TB queen before relinquishing her title to be involved in many other areas of the practice such as RCVS Practice Standards, UKFarmcare, TBAS and the day to day running of the practice and hopes to put her Foundation Degree in Business & Management which she completed in July 2017 to good use as Operations Manager from March 2020. Holly previously worked in practices in Wiveliscombe and Taunton.
JACKIE DYER
ADMINISTRATOR
Jackie joined FVSW from Minster Vets back in 2008 when FVSW was formed and is well-known to all our Ilminster clients. Jackie works three days a week at the Ilminster branch where she takes care of our accounts. Outside of work Jackie enjoys keeping fit and trying to keep up with her two children Josh and Katie.
MOLLY WILLIAMS
ADMINISTRATOR
Molly joined the practice back in September 2018, she works full-time across all three branches. Molly previously worked at Shearwell Data and has always been around agriculture. When Molly is not working, she likes to help back home on the family farm whenever she can. Molly has been an avid Young Farmer member and enjoys many country pursuits and working her Spaniels Evie and Douglas.
CLAIRE MACKAY
ADMINISTRATOR
Claire joined the practice in January 2023. Claire is a registered veterinary nurse & has many years experience working in small & mixed animal practice.
Claire grew up on a dairy farm, so is excited to see how things have moved on in the industry.
When not at work she spends her time outside with her rescue Jack Russel 'milo' or at the beach.
AMBER PUCKETT
ADMINISTRATOR
Amber joined the practice in December 2023, she works full-time across all three branches. Amber enjoys chilled weekends fishing with her partner and going to the gym in her spare time.
